Working With Us

How We Work

It’s not what we do that sets us apart, it’s how we do it. Explore how we’ll work together to drive growth.

We Help Great
Companies Get Found

People are searching for the best solution to their problems. They’re searching for you, and it’s and it’s our job to make sure you’re found. It’s not just our deep expertise and strategic mindset that yields results, but how we build our agency-client partnerships. We believe that growth is the byproduct of a great relationship.

We’re your partner

We look for long-term, collaborative partnerships in which our team operates as an extension of yours. These relationships allow us to drive the best results because search marketing success takes time & consistency to reach.

We’re outcome-driven

We design our search strategies to drive growth against your business outcomes. Search metrics are useful in measuring progress, but they don’t move the bottom line.

We do the right thing

We build trust through honest communication, clear expectations, and two-way accountability. If there’s a problem, we don’t shy away from it.

We’re advisors, not just experts

We’re not here to simply be a knowledge hub or fix issues. We’re here to help you grow. That means we’re invested in deeply understanding your business so that we’re equipped to make the most meaningful impact.

We Solve the “Shitty Agency” Problem

Let’s be honest, you’re not you when your agency sucks. The constant frustration from your wasted energy and their tired excuses takes its toll. You don’t know what they’re doing and, more importantly, you don’t know why they’re doing it.

If we’re striking a cord here, it’s because we’ve heard this story a thousand times. It’s why we developed an answer to the shitty agency problem: A relationship-driven approach built on communication, outcome-driven strategy, transparency and deep expertise.

End the games of telephone

Are you chasing your agency? Or, are they running away? Our solutions thrive on mutual collaboration to drive success.

  • We believe relationships drive results
  • We’re accessible and quick to respond
  • Our SME’s are your main points of contact

“They really understand the business beyond just doing paid search for us… They know our mission, they know our people.”

You won’t see ROI without knowing why

Search marketing isn’t simple, but we sure make it sound like it is. Our outcome-driven approach reduces complexity so it’s easy for you to buy in.

  • We build strategies from your business goals
  • We act as advisors, not just search experts
  • We educate without the jargon

“They’re able to articulate [technical stuff] in an elevated manner such that it's making sense to our CEO and co-founder.”

You’ll never be left in the dark

We dispel the notion of the search marketing “black box” through our transparent working style.

  • We operate as an extension of your team
  • We build two-way accountability
  • We meet biweekly to review roadmaps and share insights

“During our first conversation, it became pretty clear to me they knew what they were doing. It was clear to me that they had integrity.”

“All-in-one” means master of none

Search isn’t something we do, it’s all that we do. The generalist digital agencies are simply not equipped to deliver like we can.

  • Our narrow focus gives us deep expertise
  • We drive conversions, not fluff metrics
  • We stay in our lane and refer you to great partners for everything else

“Our results, in my mind, have been spectacular.”

We’re Intentional With Our Time and Yours

We’re a company that truly values work-life balance. Our top priority is to make sure that we deliver incredible value to our clients while also leading healthy, fulfilling personal lives. Time is our most valuable asset. We’re intentional with how we use it. Here are some ways that we make sure that our time, and yours, is used efficiently:

  • Our focus is driving long-term value. You’ll hear respectful pushback from us when we believe something is too shortsighted or will deviate us from the path of greatest return.
  • We make sure meetings have value, and we don’t ask for more time than we need. If an email or Slack message will do, we’ll go with that.
  • We practice Offline Fridays to increase productivity and give people more time to recharge.

Frequently Asked Questions

These are list of questions that come up most often. If you’re not seeing what you need, please reach out. Our friendly team will be quick to answer any questions you have.

All client engagements are led by at least one senior member of our team who gets involved as early as the proposal stage. They are supported by 1 to 3 Analysts who keep tasks humming. So, the faces you see in the sales process are going to be some of the same people you work with once you come on board.

We're proactive when it comes to communication. We'll set up a bi-weekly meeting cadence to review performance insights, discuss strategic initiatives and provide progress updates.

In between meetings, email is - of course - a staple of our communication strategy with clients. Our goal is to respond within a half business day. So, if you email us in the morning, you'll have a response no later than that afternoon.

For quicker communication, we have shared Slack channels with many of our clients. This makes it easy for us to answer quick questions and share wins.

Ultimately, we'll work together to establish the best communication strategy for our partnership.

As we move out of the Strategy Development phase and into our ongoing retainer, we’ll schedule bi-weekly, 30-minute meetings. Our objectives for these meetings is to build two-way accountability to keep tasks on track, share data-driven insights that may influence us to pivot our strategy, and to keep all parties aligned on our strategic priorities.

Here’s how our time is spent in a typical 30-minute meeting:

5 Minutes: Get business updates from client

5 Minutes: Share performance insights

15 Minutes: Discuss in-flight strategic initiatives and recent learnings that may influence a course adjustment

5 Minutes: Align on in-progress and upcoming tasks

The Strategy Development phase, our first month working together, is under its own SOW. Signing on for that project does not obligate you to work with us beyond it. The Strategy Development phase is your opportunity to receive a clear strategy and gauge how well we work together before committing to an ongoing engagement.

Under our ongoing retainer, we ask for an annual commitment with 60 day terms. This is to make sure we’re working with clients who are committed to driving long-term SEO & SEM growth.

Dave Sewich

dave sewich

Dave made an accidental foray into digital marketing after graduating from the University of Minnesota Duluth and hasn’t looked back. Having spent the first part of his marketing journey brand-side, he now works with the Uproer team to help clients realize their goals through the lens of search.

When not at work, you’ll find Dave staying active and living a healthy lifestyle, listening to podcasts, and enjoying live music. A Minnesotan born and raised, his favorite sport is hockey and he still finds time to skate once in a while.

Dave’s DiSC style is C. He enjoys getting things done deliberately and systematically without sacrificing speed and efficiency. When it comes to evaluating new ideas and plans, he prefers to take a logical approach, always sprinkling on a bit of healthy skepticism for good measure. At work, Dave’s happiest when he has a chance to dive deep into a single project for hours at a time. He loves contributing to Uproer and being a part of a supportive team but is most productive when working solo.
